The Preliminary Round:
Contestant must submit a recording of
their concerto on a properly labeled DVD. The recording
must be accompanied by a copy of the working score of the piece.
Recordings that are not labeled properly with the contestant's name, age,
composer, and concerto (no., key, op. etc.) will not be accepted.
Requirements:
In the Preliminary round, the
judges will listen to an unaccompanied solo part with the cadenza,
if there is one.
Judges from the Preliminary Round will
make their selections of contestants for the Semi Final Round and for the
Recital Final Round.
Semi Final Round:
Contestants will perform their concerto with an accompanist in front of the judges
and an audience. Teachers may accompany their students during the
Semi Final Round. Contestants must bring an original score and 2 extra
copies for the judges.
Judges from the Semi Final Round will
make their selections of contestants for the Recital Final Round.
Recital Final
Round: Contestants will perform their concerto with an accompanist in front
of the judges and an audience in a formal recital setting. Teachers may
accompany their students during the Recital Final Round. Contestants
must bring an original score and one copy for the judges.
Judges will make their selections of the
winners, and the results will be announced immediately following the
Recital Final Round.
Those students who have been chosen
to participate in the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra's Concert Series must
immediately submit a publicity photograph (not a school photograph, but a
photograph at the piano with a black or a dark background) as well as the
artist's biography. This is mandatory and must be done in a timely fashion
so that proper publicity can be done for the concert. Performance fee must
be paid 2 months prior to concert.
