All Divisions of this Competition will have Gold, Silver and Bronze Winners.  Judges reserve the right not to award any prizes.

 

The Preliminary Round: Contestants must submit a recording of their ensemble on a properly labeled DVD.  The recording must be accompanied by a copy of the working score of the piece. Recordings that are not labeled properly with the contestant s name, age, composer, and the name of the ensemble work (no., key, op. etc.) will not be accepted.

 

Judges from the Preliminary Round will make their selections of contestants for the Semi Final Round and for the Recital Final Round.

 

Semi Final Round: Contestants will perform in front of the judges and an audience.  Contestants must bring an original score and 2 extra copies for the judges.

 

Judges from the Semi Final Round will make their selections of contestants for the Recital Final Round.

 

Recital Final Round:  Contestants will perform in front of the judges and an audience in a formal recital setting.  Contestants must bring an original score and one copy for the judges.

 

Judges will make their selections of the winners, and the results will be announced immediately following the Recital Final Round.

 

One Piano Ensemble Competition

(2 or more performers)

 

Requirements: One memorized original or classical adaptation for one piano.

 

Please exclude Robert Volkmann's "The Russians are Coming" from your repertoire selection.

 

The students in this category will be grouped according to age:

One Piano Ensemble I

9 years of age and under

2

One Piano Ensemble II

[1PE II]

10 - 13 years of age

3.

One Piano Ensemble III

[1PE III]

14 - 18 years of age

 

Two Piano Ensemble Competition

(2 or more performers)

 

Requirements: One memorized original or classical adaptation for two pianos.

 

The students in this category will be grouped according to age:

Two Piano Ensemble I

9 years of age and under

2

Two Piano Ensemble II

[2PE II]

10 - 13 years of age

3.

Two Piano Ensemble III

[2PE III]

14 - 18 years of age

 

DVD Labeling Information

 

Each cassette submitted to the competition must be labeled as follows:

 

  1. Performer's name, age and membership number (if applicable)
  2. Teacher's name and membership number
  3. Division name and code number
  4. Composition name, Opus numbers, key, etc.
  5. Composer's name
  6. Performance time

 

Improperly labeled DVD's will not be accepted.
